When [Jesus] saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;  therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority… These twelve Jesus sent out. — Matthew 9:36-38 , 10:1, 5 (ESV)

Jesus did three remarkable things in this simple passage.  First, he saw the pain of the crowds of people and he felt for them with compassion.  Second, he commanded us to pray for laborers to help shepherd the people.  Third, he answered his own prayer by sending his disciples to help the hurting people in the crowds.

You are the answer to Jesus’ prayer to reach a hurting world.

In August, we are embarking on a 21 Day Prayer and Fasting Journey to explore these words of Jesus and commit our lives to being the answer to Jesus’ prayer for Elkhart County and the world.
